The Party - Abi

For our 3rd shoot, we filmed a pretend Christmas Party at my apartment. This was done on a Wednesday night as most of us finish college early on Wednesdays. We asked for extras via facebook, however most of the extras we asked we the same extras from the first shoot, we did ask more people for continuity. We had about 12 extras in total. We bought drinks and snacks to make the party seem realistic, and had a CD so the extras had something to act to. We first told them to act natural and we would walk around filming, however we also asked for some specific shots. These included Grace and Charlie talking at a table, an argument between Grace and Charlie, the extras dancing in a circle with me filming in the middle in a circular motion and me lying on the floor with a camera while the extras released party poppers over the camera. We also needed to film an argument between Grace and Charlie and Grace getting kidnapped by her teacher. We decided to film this in the car park under my apartment as it has quite an eerie look and plenty of places for Mr Eastwood to hide behind. We decided he should be concealed behind a pillar next to where Charlie and Grace. While this was happening, I set up the crane on my balcony ready for the final shot of the crane coming down and us seeing through the door. This also meant I could watch over the extras. I also told the extras they would be needed for another half an hour and so to start contacting lifts home while they were waiting. We then filmed the crane shot and was finished. I think the most difficult part of this shoot was figuring out where we should place the film light, as it was quite large in a small crammed apartment. Especially when we did the crane shot as we had positioned it directly infront of the crane, so I needed to look through the camera and tell Emma and Tom where to place the light so it was not in shot.
